4.3 Polarization BRDF Measurements

Polarization BRDF radiation transfer function is applied to obtain , , and in BRDF matrix so that the polarization BRDF data of different materials can be acquired. Polarization BRDF measurement instruments are mainly polarization spectrometer and imaging polarization spectrometer. Polarization spectrometer has highly spectral resolution, measuring speed and accuracy, but the data can only described the average reflect characteristics so it is difficult to apply in classification and identification researches. The data measured by imaging polarization spectrometer can describe texture or variation of polarization BRDF, but it is hard to measure polarization BRDF data and describe polarization BRDF characteristics due to the serious influence of equipment response function. In order to make up these shortages, polarization BRDF data should be measured by the above instrument firstly, then the inversion of data should be done using polarization spectrometer, finally polarization BRDF characteristics and texture can be obtain precisely.
